The Birth Of Cinema

The first film history goes back to the end of 1800s, when cinema was just starting to appear. At that time, people were trying to develop the idea of moving images. The most important step in this area was made by Auguste Lumière and Louis Lumière in 1895 when they invented a device called “cinematograph”. This device could record images and also show them on a screen, so people could watch moving pictures for the first time.
One of the first films made by them is Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory. This film is very short, about less than one minute, and its subject is very simple. It shows workers leaving the Lumière factory after their work day ends. There is no story, no dialogue and no sound; only a normal moment of real life is recorded. But at that time, this was a very big invention and people was very surprised.
Even if this first film is very simple, it is considered the beginning of cinema history. Because after this, films become longer, more developed and later sound films and modern cinema was created.
