Traditional Turkish Dish: Zeytinyağlı Sarma Zeytinyağlı sarma is one of the most popular traditional Turkish dishes. It is usually made with grape leaves, rice, onion, olive oil, tomato paste, and different spices. First, the onions are chopped into small pieces and mixed with rice, olive oil, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, mint, and parsley in a large bowl. This mixture becomes the filling of the sarma. Then, the grape leaves are washed carefully in warm water to make them soft and ready to use. After that, a small spoon of the rice mixture is placed on each grape leaf, and the leaves are rolled tightly one by one. The prepared sarmas are placed neatly in a pot. Some water, lemon juice, and olive oil are added on top. They are cooked on low heat for about 35–40 minutes. After cooking, zeytinyağlı sarma is usually served cold with lemon slices or yogurt. It is a delicious, healthy, and famous dish in Turkish cuisine.
